Evolution, Transformation, and Adaptation
The publication of scientific, clinical and healthcare research drives the dissemination of new information and the implementation of best practices around the globe. Stringent editorial practices support the processes that protect our society and the lives of patients. We are unwilling to compromise on integrity as the ownership of content moves toward open commons where data with proper attribution can be freely shared.
Advances in technology have democratized online access to research findings and publications. Research funders today demand faster and broader dissemination of scholarly research to a global audience. Publication of COVID-19 research demonstrated the feasibility.
Open Access (OA) was born within this environment fueled by content ownership, transparency and distribution.
We invite you to join a multi-stakeholder roundtable to explore the transformation of traditional publishing to the world of OA by examining:
1. The successes of OA in achieving its mission
2. The challenges preventing OA from continuing its success
3. The opportunities that remain to be developed
4. The disrupters that will influence adoption of OA
To explore these issues, we are gathering stakeholders representing publishers, societies, consortia, research organizations, and governments for a 2.5 hour virtual roundtable discussion. Participants will be provided a brief video to set the stage. Our time together will include interactive breakout sessions and the opportunity to consider OA through multiple lenses.
Our goal is to explore those factors that will further the transformation of open access publishing and drive OA adoption across the global medical community.
Please join us for this limited invitation initial global roundtable, July 21, 8:30-11:00 am CDT. A proceeding of the meeting and invitations to a series of small group conversations will follow in August and September to delve further into the questions and answers developed in this roundtable.
This event is supported by a grant from Pfizer Global Medical Relations. We invite your passion and commitment to furthering this conversation. RSVP using the form below. Please feel free to contact either of us with questions. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on July 21.
