Exploring Together to Address Obesity

The clinical realm of obesity is well-known, but the communication between patient and physician and medical team is less well understood. In an effort to learn more about what patients and physicians believe is the best way to improve care, we hosted a series of focus groups, practicing physicians and experts/influencers, and completed a primary care survey … each activity asking questions about roles and responsibilities, support, tools, resources and more. The gap between the two groups is fodder for action.

Evaluating Perspectives

Addressing obesity within the healthcare environment is challenging - patients feel shame and primary care physicians lack the needed resources and strategies. From conversations, roundtable discussions, physician survey, and reflection we offer an educational framework that supports learning and change in primary care.
